Ghana midfielder Kudus Mohammed has joined West Ham in a five year deal from Ajax, the two clubs have officially confirmed.

The fee is reportedly a €45m package and the deal includes a sell-on clause for the Dutch club amid other interests from Chelsea and Arsenal.

Kudus, who touched down in London with his mother and two brothers, could not hide his joy and admitted that he has been dreaming to play in the Premier League since childhood.

“I’ve been dreaming to play in a league like this since I was a kid.

“I’ve been dreaming of this moment and I’m so happy to be here. But it doesn’t stop here, I want to keep going.

“I try my best to entertain the fans as I think that’s what football is all about. I’m just here to do my best and help the team.

“I’m really happy to be here. I will fight for the badge. I can’t wait to get started.”

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey was seen at the club’s training ground on Monday morning ahead of a planned trip to United States of America.

The 28-year-old missed out on Arsenal’s pre-season tour to Germany last week after he was reportedly charged for an alleged rape.

According to reports in the UK media, Partey’s girlfriend reported him to the police for assault and rape but he has been cleared of all the charges due to insufficient evidence to press charges against him.

Meanwhile, Partey’s camp has insisted that the lady who wanted to soil the Arsenal player’s name did so out of bitterness as her dream to get married to Partey couldn’t become a reality.

Partey is expected to join his teammates in United States this week as the club continues to fine tune ahead of the 2022/23 Premier League season.

English-born striker with Ghanaian descent Eddie Nketiah was one of the star performers when Arsenal hammered Chelsea 4-2 in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.

Barely after 24 hours of admitting his readiness to represent Ghana on international level, Nketiah had the brightest of start against Chelsea as he shot Arsenal into the lead by the 13th minute.

Although, Timo Werner levelled the score for Chelsea four minutes later, Emiley Smith-Rowe restored the lead for Arsenal on 27th minute but Caeser Azpilicueta once again pulled even for Chelsea.

However, after the break, Nketiah sent Arsenal into the lead once again with a fine finish before Bukayo Sako sealed the victory through a penalty in additional time.

Nketiah was born in England to Ghanaian parents and although he has represented England at youth level, he is still eligible to play for the West African giants through descent.

Ghana’s interim coach Otto Addo and technical advisor Chris Hughton have been combing around the world in search of talents to add to the already existing squad as the Black Stars prepare to partake in the 2022 Fifa World Cup to be staged in Qatar.

The Black Stars have been pitted in Group H alongside Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay.

“Of course it is a possibility. I’m open to both, playing for Ghana and playing for England as well,” Nketiah told The Beautiful Game podcast when quizzed about joining the Black Stars soon.

“It’s always good to have the opportunity to potentially do that. Both of my parents are from Ghana and I know some of the players like Thomas Partey so it will be cool.

“I’m also happy for them to have qualified to play in the 2022 Fifa World Cup,” he added.

A dramatic deadline day looks set to end with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leaving Arsenal with Barcelona having reached an agreement to sign the former Gunners’ club captain on a free transfer.

Monday had begun with Aubameyang sufficiently confident he was moving to the La Liga giants on loan that he traveled to Catalonia without the knowledge of either club. Early in the afternoon, talks between Arsenal and Barcelona hit a buffer over the latter’s finances but sources close to the deal have confirmed that that impasse has been broken. Crucially, the player will now leave on a permanent basis for no transfer fee if the remaining hurdles are completed. The 32-year-old is due to undergo his medical in the coming hours.

While Arsenal will be relieved to get Aubameyang’s $400,000-a-week salary off their books, there will be much consternation among supporters if the striker departs without a replacement arriving. Club sources confirmed to CBS Sports that the Gabon international’s departure did not reflect any belief at the Emirates Stadium that their month-long pursuit of a center forward will end in success. Barring a dramatic turn of events in the final three hours of the window, Mikel Arteta will head into the remainder of the season with just two strikers in his first team squad.

Meanwhile, Barcelona’s striking options have swelled with Aubameyang eager to make the move to La Liga. Even as talks appeared to be wavering the Spanish side expressed confidence. Club president Joan Laporta told Mundo Deportivo: “We will keep working until the last minute. The situation is not easy. It’s known we’d like to sign Aubameyang. It’s complicated but there’s hope.”

Sources close to the deal confirmed to CBS Sports that Aubameyang had long since reached a full agreement with Barcelona over the loan deal but the Spanish club have struggled to find an agreement with Arsenal, who were taken by surprise when they discovered that Aubameyang had already made the trip to Barcelona. Some employees discovered only when he was pictured arriving at the airport.

It will be a welcome end to January for Aubameyang, who had rejected offers from elsewhere in a bid to secure a switch to a top European club, CBS Sports revealed earlier this month that the striker had been offered a loan move to Al Nassr, one which would have come with a $9 million mandatory purchase clause that would have been welcomed by Arsenal.

Despite late attempts to charm the Gabon striker — including an exit clause that would have allowed Aubameyang to return to Europe in a year’s time — he was ultimately set on remaining in Europe.

Barcelona entered the fray in the final hours of the window with Xavi having long since identified Aubameyang as his top target. The former Borussia Dortmund striker joins fellow Premier League imports Ferran Torres and Adama Traore to round off a midseason window that has seen the Blaugrana dramatically reshape their attack.

Aubameyang, who is out of contract in the summer of 2023, has struggled for form since signing a new three-year contract with Arsenal prior to the start of the 2020-21 season, in 43 Premier League games he has scored just 14 goals. In the meantime, Arteta has been using Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah as his center forward options. The former has three Premier League goals this season, the latter none. Both are out of contract at the end of the season.

Arsenal had been attempting to upgrade in that position this month with technical director Edu Gaspar and manager Arteta were open to bringing forward planned summer business to the midseason window. Alexander Isak of Real Sociedad, Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Canada international Jonathan David are all targets. The former has a release clause believed to be priced at $100 million.

The Gunners have also been offered several players on loan this month, including Real Madrid’s Luka Jovic and Mehdi Taremi of Porto, and have been working to upgrade Arteta’s strikeforce before the transfer window closes Monday night. Meanwhile, Arsenal have made one signing, securing the services of Colorado Rapids center back Auston Trusty.

The 23-year-old will remain on loan with the MLS club until July 17. Trusty was named Rapids’ defender of the year for the 2021 season and was called up to the USMNT’s training camp in Arizona earlier this month.

Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey was sent off in Arsenal’s 2-0 home defeat to Liverpool in the second leg of the League Cup semifinals at the Emirates Sports Stadium on Thursday.

The 28-year-old endured a horrible tournament with Ghana as they were knocked out of the group stage of 2021 Africa Cup of Nations ongoing in Cameroon following defeats to Morocco and minnows Comoros.

Despite arriving in London in the early morning of Thursday, Mikel Arteta opted to add him to the matchday squad to face Liverpool after picking a goalless draw in the first leg.

With Arsenal down by a goal thanks to Diogo Jota’s first half goal, Partey was thrown into the game by the 74th minute to replace Smith-Rowe.

However, the Ghanaian was booked on the 87th minute following a rush tackle on a Liverpool player before he was sent off three minutes later.

Jota added another goal in-between Partey’s first booking and his second to send Liverpool to Wembley.

Liverpool will now square it off with Chelsea in the final next month.

Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong has insisted that it was a dream come through after representing Ghana at the international stage.

The box-to-box midfielder rose through the ranks of England’s youth national teams and even captained the U-17 side at a point.

However, he switched nationality to represent the country of his parents and although he played just a game for the Black Stars, Frimpong believes it was the best of decisions since he always dreamt of wearing the Black Stars jersey.

“I follow my passion. I don’t follow the money too much,” Frimpong told GTV Sports+ in an interview.

“Obviously, playing for England, you get more money and more exposure but for me, as I said, I have always had a dream. I remember when I was young, I used to watch Abedi Pele and Tony Yeboah when I was very young.

“So, I have always had a passion for playing for Ghana. And, you know sometimes in life people make decisions that you from the outside you might not understand but for me, its one of the best feelings.

“Playing in Kumasi, playing for my family, and putting the Ghana shirt on are some of the best feelings that I’ve ever had in my career. Maybe, if I had played for England, who knows maybe things would have turned for the better but then again you know you always have to follow what you want to do,” he added.

Frimpong, whose career was cut short due to injury concerns, has relocated to Ghana after hanging his boots.

Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong has revealed that he has relocated to Ghana following his decision to retire from football.

The 31-year-old who rose through the ranks of England youth national teams prematurely ended his career due to injury concerns.

Although, he holds British passport and has some of his family members in England, he has opted to relocate to Africa to be closer to his extended family.

“I’ve been living in Ghana permanently since 2017,” Frimpong told GTV Sports + in an interview.

“I’ve always had the idea of coming back to live in Ghana. I’ve always had a love for Ghana and I have always wanted to settle in Ghana with my family and my wife and that’s what I’m doing.

“Obviously, for my whole life, I have been playing football, and it’s been that kind of difficult and stuff like that. There is no better time than now in terms of spending time with the family. And, I have been enjoying that,” he added.

Although, Frimpong played several matches with England’s under-16 and U-17 sides, he later switched nationality to represent Ghana at the senior level.

In 2009, Frimpong said, “No matter what, I will always play for Ghana because at the end of the day, from what I believe, I am a Ghanaian.” 

In February 2011, Frimpong said, “I have always told my family that if Ghana calls me, I will personally ride my own bicycle from England to Ghana [to play for the Black Stars].” 

In March 2013, Frimpong made his bow for Ghana during a 2014 World Cup qualifying match against Sudan.

The 28-year-old, who joined Arsenal from Atletico Madrid last season, broke his duck by the 23rd minute after rising above his marker to head home a cross from Smith-Rowe.

The goal means that Partey has become the first Ghanaian to ever score a goal for Arsenal in a Premier League game.

Pierre Emerrick Aubameyang had the opportunity to make it 2-0 on the stroke of half time from the penalty spot but the Arsenal captain fluffed the opportunity. However, he was fortunate to tap in the rebound after his effort was saved.

After the break, Smith-Rowe made it 3-0 by the 56th minute with a cool finish after he combined with Aubameyang.

Jacob Ramsey pulled one back for Villa by the 82nd minute but it was too little too late to stage a comeback.

Partey lasted the entire duration and had 75 touches throughout the game. He had 82.7 per cent passing accuracy, three tackles and two clearances.

Also, the former Inter Allies midfielder won four ground duels out of ten as well as three aerial duels out of four.

Ghana midfielder Thomas Teye Partey was in full flight as Arsenal defeated Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 in the North London derby in Premier League at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

The 28-year-old started the game in midfield alongside Granit Xhaka as Arsenal took the game to their visitors.

It was Smith-Rowe who shot Arsenal into the lead by the 12th minute after he connected a pass from Bukayo Saka.

Smith-Rowe then turned from a scorer to assist Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to give Arsenal the second goal by the 27th minute.

Arsenal ended the first half 3-0 up with Tottenham Hotspur wobbling and struggling to find their footing as Mikel Arteta’s tactics worked to perfection.

With eleven minutes left, Heung-Min Son pulled one back for Tottenham. They charged and pushed men forward for another goal but Partey and his teammates were resolute.

Last season, Partey, who had been rushed back from a thigh injury to start the North London derby, controversially walked off the pitch having aggravated the issue in the build-up to Tottenham’s second goal as Arsenal went on to lose 2-0 but this time, he was in full flight.

Before the game, Arteta admitted that Partey is his “anchor”. “He’s the one who reads what is happening and makes the rest better,” he said. “How he manages the transition, the pressing. He has charisma,” he added.

Thomas Partey showed just how important he is to this Arsenal team with a strong display against Spurs as he had 47 touches and one key pass. The Ghanaian scored 4/4 accuracy on long balls and 26/29 accurate passes.

Also, he won five out of the seven duels he was involved and made three interceptions and tackles respectively.

Partey missed Ghana’s World Cup qualifiers against Ethiopia and South Africa last month but he is expected to be available for selection when the Black Stars play their first game under new coach Milovan Rajevac against Zimbabwe on October 5.

However, he will likely miss the return encounter four days later in Harare.
